How To Set Up and Play Designer Golf
Congratulations!! You are about to be the designer of your own golf course.
To Set Up Your Course
- First you should determine an area to set up your game. It might be your backyard, a beach, a nearby park or a school yard; these are just some examples. Based on the amount of space you have, determine the number of holes you want to play. The great thing about Designer Golf is you can design a course that has 3-holes or 5-holes or whatever you have room for.
- Next grab the scorecard (as seen here and included with the game) and sketch your course layout. Remember to incorporate dog legs, elevation changes and hazards into your design. Examples of hazards are: driveways, sidewalks, flower beds, sand boxes and patio areas. Then determine par based on the distance from the tee to the flag. You may even want to measure and record the distance in feet or yards on the scorecard for those “serious” golfers. You can also name your course and holes to add that finishing touch! Remember, with Designer Golf, imagination is the name of the game!
- Now that you have your course sketched out it’s time to set up your Designer Golf golf course. Set up two tee markers at the beginning of each hole. (We recommend setting the tee markers 2-club lengths apart.) Then, place your cup rings the determined distance away from the tee markers (refer to your sketched out scorecard). Finally, place the pin flags directly in the center of the cup rings. You are moments away from playing golf on a course you designed!
- It’s time to grab your clubs and ball and head to the first tee! Use the included neighborhood friendly Designer Golf® balls and tee it up. You may also use a regulation golf ball if you want to practice your short game. Play with conventional or plastic clubs and remember to always play it safe!
- We encourage you to play by the rules of golf and incorporate your own local rules. One Designer Golf rule to remember is a ball that is touching or in the cup ring is considered “holed out”.
